南青山のレストラン＆ミュージックバーBAROOMのミュージック・セレクターをLAから来日中でLAのインターネットラジオdublab.comにもゲスト出演するアーティスト、Angelnumber 8が担当。円形ホールに併設された、ALTECのヴィンテージ・スピーカーを置いたバーは、どなたでも気軽に立ち寄れる極上の音響空間です。

Angelnumber 8, an artist visiting Japan from LA and a guest on dublab.com., will be the music selectors at BAROOM, a restaurant and music bar in Minami Aoyama. Located in a circular hall, the bar withvintage ALTEC speakers is an excellent acoustic space that anyone can feel free to drop by.

■ Angelnumber 8

Angelnumber 8 tells stories of the past, present and future through self-examination. His debut project “SOUNDMATH” (EP) was released in 2019, followed by his 2022 release “Digital Tribal” (LP) in collaboration with Cash App Studios. As an artist, writer, and composer, 8 draws from sounds of 70’s-00’s dancehall, 90’s rock, and modern electronic music.

Born in Staten Island to a Liberian mother and father, 8 began nurturing his love for music as the youngest of 5 children. Through the fast paced NYC environment, changing family dynamics, and the boom of technology, the relationship between sound and words was the one thing that served as a constant for him.

That same relationship began to flourish after a sudden relocation to Houston in 2011. The south slowed everything down and gave 8 the gift of going inward, spending nights sampling and recording music in his bedroom on FL Studio. Acquired baritone skills from middle school choir, Wu-Tang and “808’s and Heartbreak” served as beacons of light in shaping his sound.

8’s world-building capabilities is not only a testament to his upbringing and surroundings but to the influence of working under visionaries like Tremaine Emory, brand Stussy, and Kanye West.
