We’ll be broadcasting a special two-day program, “In A Cocktail Glass: Double Feature,” curated by Yutaka Takamatsu, lyricist for the 2024 album In A Cocktail Glass by the Tokyo synthesizer duo CRYSTAL.
Through this selection, Takamatsu traces his artistic roots and cinematic sensibilities.

■ DAY 1: Yutaka’s selection of movie songs in a cocktail glass
For Day 1, Takamatsu selects soundtracks from films by directors who have profoundly influenced him—such as Yoshimitsu Morita and Nobuhiko Obayashi.
Enjoy a shimmering hour that brings back the atmosphere of the late ’80s to early ’90s.

- 三宅亮太と丸山素直による東京のシンセサイザー・デュオ。JUSTICEのGaspard Auge、Surkinにより見出され、Ed Bangerと共にフレンチ・エレクトロを牽引した伝説的レーベルInstitubesからデビュー。70年代後半から80年代のニューウェーブ、インダストリアル、テクノ、エレ ポップ、ゲームミュージックに影響を受けたサウンドで注目される。Teki Latex、Ikonikaとのコラボレーションを経て、2015年にファーストアルバム「Crystal Station 64」を発表。クリスタル・カラーな抜群のポップセンス、ジャン・ミッシェル・ジャール、トーキング・ヘッズらへの捻じれたオマージュ満載のシンセサイザー・サウンドが好評を得た。過去3度のパリ公演では、Para One、Chateau Marmont、Boys Noizeらと共演、近年はサンダーキャットの全米ツアー、スペインのSonar Festival、Taico Club、Rainbow Disco Clubなどの大型フェスティバル、Independent Label Market、Flying Lotus presents Brainfeeder The Hitといったオンラインイベントに出演。三宅亮太はSparrowsとしても活躍、2018年にはFazerdaze、Casey MQらをフィーチャーしたアルバム「Berries」を発表。
Headed up by Ryota Miyake (aka Sparrows), alongside Sunao Maruyama, CRYSTAL are connoisseurs of retro-futurist electronic music. First discovered online by Gaspard Auge (Justice) & Surkin, the duo’s sound has displayed an eclectic trajectory, encompassing synth pop, J-pop, proto-techno, and video game soundtracks.
CRYSTAL have released output on Boysnoize Records and the French label Sound Pellegrino and have collaborated with the likes of Ikonika, Matias Aguayo and Teki Latex, amongst many other highlights, including a jamming session with Thundercat at RBMA Montreal.
CRYSTAL unveil their effervescent new album of unashamed retro-futurist city pop ‘In A Cocktail Glass’, following their recent single ‘Autumn Story’ ‘One More Chance’ and their acclaimed album ‘Reflection Overdrive’, as well as appearances on Brainfeeder’s Flying Lotus curated streaming series The Hit, a memorable feature on Jessy Lanza’s DJ Kicks compilation and a prior collaboration with Ikonika.
