Episode 1: Digging into the sounds of the 1930-50s. In our very first episode, we focus on Choro, Samba, and Samba-Canção from the era surrounding the birth of Bossa Nova. While Bossa Nova emerged in the late ’50s as a sophisticated evolution of Samba, Brazil was already home to a wealth of incredible music that laid its foundation. While the influence of American jazz is often discussed, that’s not the whole story.
記念すべき第一回は、1950年代前後の作品を深掘り！ボサノヴァ誕生前後のショーロやサンバ、サンバ・カンサォンに焦点を置き、Tatsuro Murakamiによる独断と偏見でご紹介。1950年代末に「中上流階級によるサンバの派生」として生まれたボサノヴァですが、誕生以前のブラジルにはそのルーツとなる素晴らしい音楽がたくさん存在していました。アメリカのジャズによる影響も多く語られますが、実はそれだけじゃない、、今回は主にその時代にテーマを絞りました。
